Club Championship Reminder
Just a reminder when arranging to play Club Competitions can you please ensure that the details are entered in the Rink Book Diary which you will find next to the Bookcase near the mens changing rooms.
This will avoid clashes with those members who have agreed to help with Mowing of the Green, as they also will check the rink book and enter when greens maintenance is to be done.
10 Week Draw
Evening all members,
Just to remind you that the fund raising 10 week draw starts shortly.
As week 1 is being drawn on 13th July, Gill, the organiser, has requested that all counterfoils, cash and any unsold tickets be returned preferably at this weekends Club drives if you haven’t done so already. This will allow the committee 2-3 weeks to try and sell any returned tickets .
I’m sure you all have done your very best at raising funds for the club to maintain the buildings and particularly the rinks at the high standard which we have become accustomed to, and I thank you very much for your support.
Should you wish your effort and contribution to be collected, please e-mail me and I will endeavour to get it collected as soon as possible.
Thanking you and kind regards
Richard Parfrey
Chairman

Groundsman Duties
Andrew will be at the club this Saturday at 10am to give any volunteers some advice and instruction to use the machinery and cut the grass. Other jobs like spraying, aeration and scarification are not relevant at the moment and can be dealt with at a later date
when they become necessary.
If we can get teams of two for grass cutting on a rota basis, we will be able to get through the season taking into account holidays etc.
Please help, the future of the club is in your hands and as they say 'No Greens, No Bowling, No Club’. Depending on the weather, a couple of hours a week should be enough to keep us going and having enough assistants make light work.
If you can’t make this Saturday and would like to help, please ring Andrew on 01354 694265 and he may be able to make other arrangements but be quick, he will soon be taking leave for health reasons.

Pre-season outside maintenance is well underway. On behalf of Tony, I would like to thank those of you who have helped with the fences/rink surrounds.
If anyone can spare some time, the fence (from the gate to the toilets) still needs preserving and the sheds. Dark oak Ronseal is available near the Gents Changing Room with brushes. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
The Rinks look marvellous and you will chomping at the bit to get started, due to the skills and hard work put in by Andrew and his team.
Look forward to seeing you all again at the Meeting

Volunteers Required
We would like volunteers to help with the green cutting on a rota basis. Probably only once a fortnight.

New watering system.
We at CTBC are pleased to announce the installation of a new watering sytem. This will greatly aid Andrew and the body of helpers who give up hours of their time to ensure that the greens at Chatteris are amongst the best around.
The work was carried out by Hortech Systems of Holbeach and the cost of the project was supported by a grant from Red Tile Windfarm Trust.
Thanks to everyone who helped support the process to make this possible.
Well done to the ladies team who won their match last night 👍 (22nd)
If there are any ladies interested in playing in social league matches please contact Anne Patter or a committee member.
Although the weather was chilly, a great friendly match against Haddenham BC was held today (13th).
Five rinks of triples matches were played and a very enjoyable time was had by all.
Teas were served afterwards and further chat filled the clubhouse. Cake followed, a raffle was held and tea and coffee completed a lovely afternoon.
Thank you to Clive, Anne, David and everyone else who helped make the day a successful one.
Please check Diary Dates for further friendlies and let Clive know if you are available to play.

April 2021
Four charities directly supporting the Chatteris community have been awarded a cash donation as part of Jack’s supermarket’s Jack’s Supports Scheme.
All four charities will receive £500 each to help fund their ongoing work within the community.
Jack’s Supermarket, on Fenland Way, part of the Tesco family, launched its Jack’s Supports scheme to donate proceeds from the sale of carrier bags to local good causes.
Chatteris Bowls Club has received a grant from their local Jack's supermarket.
Usually, the four charities selected would each receive £250, and voting units would be placed in store where shoppers could nominate one charity to receive an extra donation. However, as voting in store has closed due to social distancing measures, each selected charity will instead receive an increased donation of £500 to help those whose usual fundraising efforts may have been impacted by the pandemic.
The four winning charities are:
Chatteris Town Bowls Club, an outdoor lawn bowls club open to all.
Andrew Hay, chair of Chatteris Town Bowls Club, said: “We would like to thank the Jack’s Supports Scheme for their donation, this will go towards the construction costs of an extension to the clubhouse to provide inside toilets which allow full disabled access, this is something we have been working towards over recent years.”
Fenland Pastures CIC, an animal sanctuary that also provides equine interaction sessions to vulnerable people.
Chatteris in Bloom has been given £500 by Jack's supermarket.
Chatteris in Bloom, a group of volunteers who work with the community and local businesses to help brighten up the town.
Little Acre Fen Pocket Park, a recently created open space that includes a number of features that will continually enhance the space for everyone to enjoy over time.
Peter Lonsdale, store manager, said: “The Jack’s Supports scheme has been running for a while now and it’s important to everyone at Jack’s to be able to give back to the local community who have always been so kind to us. As charity fundraising has been massively affected by the pandemic, we are delighted that we are able to offer more support to organisations than ever before.
“We strongly recommended anyone who’s considering applying for the next round to definitely get involved, we want to support as many local charities as possible, especially during such difficult times.”

The club has been running club roll-ups and competitions as all league games were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Andrew Hay (Chairman) said: “We have risk assessments in place and strict cleaning protocols together with social distancing rules; this has enabled us to have an enjoyable season whilst ensuring all members feel safe. Although our club membership ranges from 13 to 80 and over with the majority in the higher age range, we all feel life must go on and quality of life must be paramount.”
Finals weekend was held in glorious sunshine and produced some excellent matches. Thank you to everyone who made the weekend possible!
